Bass-player/composer Evan Strauss plays the bass guitar, the surbahar, the guitar & the kaoss pad and lives most times in Seattle. His most recent album is THE HAILEY IDAHO BLUES, a collection of lo-fi country-bluegrass-&-blues recorded in Hailey Idaho (natch) with able co-conispirator Tyler May on fiddle, banjo, harmonica, etc.
In 2011 Evan recorded and released WHILE MY BASS GUITAR PROJECTILE VOMITS, a trio of improvisations for electric bass, amps, effects and tape machine, and BEAR COUNTRY: The Concert, a live album recorded at his Division 3 presentation at Hampshire College. A studio album is also forthcoming, which may be considered in a certain sense to be the proper follow-up to Evan's 1st solo album, A MOOSE SUPREME. A MOOSE SUPREME has been the victim of a remix attack by 5-Track, called SEAMOO: A MOOSE, REMIXED.
Also wonderful is Evan's avant-heavy-inflected live masterpiece, If There Is Truth In An Object It Means Nothing To Me And Time Is A Bleeding Heart So Let's Drink Until We Die, featuring Andrew Woods and 5-Track.
In addition to these things, Evan is a founding member of the Seattle-based all-improvised psychedelic-music collective SNOOSE JUNCTION (with John Foss, John Leighton Beezer and 5-Track); of Yggdrasil In The Skunk Ape Moment, an experimental improvised-music trio (with Michael Beggs and Morgan Greenstreet); and perhaps countless others.
(it's all part of the Big Skunk-Ape Project.)
